College Masters

Wesley & Barbara Morris

This will be Wesley and Barbara's fourth year as Hanszen Masters. Wes has taught American Literature in the English Department for 37 years, and he teaches classes each semester as well as being one of Hanszen's Divisional Advisors. Barbara, a Rice alum, has taught English literature at the college level, and she taught four and five year olds in pre-K classes for fifteen years. All four of their sons, and one daughter-in-law, are Hanszenites, so they know the Rice and Hanszen experience from inside and out.

Their house is a few steps away from the Hanszen commons, and they are available whenever you need advice on matters academic or personal, or if you want to share an accomplishment, voice a concern, just like to chat, or see their dog, cat, or turtles. They are always ready to listen when you need a sympathetic friend.

They are very involved in all Hanszen activities, including meals in the commons, Wednesday night Cabinet meetings, study breaks, and cheering at all Hanszen sports. But, what is most important to them is the success of the Hanszen students in and out of the classroom.
